Jan 29, 2024 我最喜歡的自己畫出來的畫，是一幅沒人能懂的畫。 一個人形輪廓附載著各式各樣鮮明的顏色，背負著主要的橘色，背對荒蕪的一片洪荒大地。 那塊鮮紅荒蕪的大地，已經枯竭。而大地之下仍然有一線綠色生機。 她的腹內藏也藏著一絲綠色生機。很深很深，近乎黑色的綠色。你要知道，那樣的倖存者不太簡單，倖存之後留下的顏色總是憤怒，尖叫，沒有安靜淡然的白色，白色是飄在頭頂上的。 她往前看，眼前的大地很美。海仍然是藍色，地仍然翠綠。陽光會從地面升起。她的腦袋因此裂成兩半，一半留給過去，一半留給未來，她正在凝視的未來。

Feb 1, 2024 天堂，這個書名很常見，常見到你不會覺得那裡面寫的是天堂。 但凡是得到諾貝爾獎的書，你都讀。凡是書，你都讀。雖然你不知道評審的標準是什麼。或者他們是否帶有西方政治的觀點？ 你驚訝Margaret Atwood和Alice Monroe同為加拿大人，但後者得獎了，前者沒有。你其實喜歡前者更多，因為讀完前者，你會採取行動，因為你害怕你的後世活得沒有人樣。讀完後者，你覺得安逸舒適，儘管書中的許多性愛倫理是刺骨的，尤其在1970的加拿大荒鎮。但那無關乎整個族群的生存，因此你置之度外。 好了，你開始下筆寫關於天堂的感想。 首先，封面真美，那是一個黑人轉頭看後方，你看不清楚他的臉，背景是焦黃色的。人身的巨大蓋過了整個頁面，有一種壓迫感，他感覺在逃跑。 書中的角色是在沙漠地帶的坦尚尼亞。原來德國曾經殖民過坦尚尼亞。 坦尚尼亞在哪裡？我只知道我還在德國時，寒暑假有許多室友或樓友會去坦尚尼亞旅行，或者當義工，並學會一口流利的當地語言，Swahili。 現在我讀完，覺得荒謬。當義工？你們把人家的房子燒壞了，當然要修要賠啊。是以德國人後代的身份去償債吧。 我的確遇過理直氣壯的我輩德國人說，二戰關我什麼事，又不是我做的，我們為二戰道歉太多了。說這種話的人很可能沒讀過自己的歷史。 大概就是這種乾淨切割的態度，可以洗白歷史，沒有過去，嶄新的。自尊心很高。 我現在知道了，坦尚尼亞有許多種族，阿拉伯人(我猜也許是Berber)，東非原住民，德國人，各路人馬，東非商隊，從內陸一直走到沿海港口貿易。 男主角Yusuf在某一天被經商失敗的父母賣給阿拉伯債主，他在債主的店裡工作好幾個月以後才發現。但是在讀這本書的時候，你並不會覺得男主角感到絕望。他像一個商品，一個珍稀美麗的「原住民小子」，轉手他人，一賣，二賣。 知道自己被父母賣掉的瞬間，他感到震驚。但就這麼吞下了，畢竟生活就是生活。他在店裡被打，因為無知，因為不信伊斯蘭教，因為不會說阿拉伯文。 換句話說，伊斯蘭教已經是本位語言與文化了，Swahili原住民文化反而是被貶低的。 於是他改信伊斯蘭教，學說阿拉伯語，跟著商隊一起走，直到有一天，債主告知他，他可以不用工作還身了，而他爸爸在幾個月前過世，媽媽去向未明。他只是感到一陣哀傷，便繼續待在店裡工作下去。「不然我要去哪裡？」 債主的太太引誘他不成，而他從來只是藉口經過內院的花園，幻想自己在天堂裡。 天堂？裡面沒有愛情，只有自由。 那天到來的時候，債主來了，捎來信息，說德國人已經佔據了許多地方，他們無法繼續貿易了。因此把商店解散了，「你自由了。」 自由？ Yusuf不知道自己要去哪裡，才配得上自由的定義。他愛過，他體驗過，他學過。 僅此而已，我不覺得Yusuf的生命很苦。我想，他活在當下，就已經是天堂了。
